But the people paid minimum wage are generally very very young and not supporting households.

The argument about pushing up other wages should not be swept aside. It's a really important point.
But the simple moral argument for a living wage is that someone who is willing to work 40 hours a week should be able to afford food, clothing, shelter, and medical care. A person should be able to support themselves through their work instead of relying on the government for extra assistance.
Since we have cut corporate taxes to almost nothing, at least these companies should pay their workers enough that middle class citizens don't have to pay for government subsidies like food stamps and housing.
