RIP Alex (for real, you were a true gentleman), but Ken is settling in nicely. Might be a worthy successor.

The difference is that Ken actually does know the answers. Alex did not but always acted like he did. He would often tell someone that they were correct and then have to snatch it back when they came back from commercial.
Sorry guys, or guy?
Not really a fan of Ken’s boring delivery
El-G was just in a clue. The contestants guesses as to which metric event he ran that was “just short of a mile.”:
10,000 meters
10 meters
500 meters
Derp.

He seems like a nice guy, but he's doing a terrible job. He's reading the clues way too fast, his voice has an irritating tenor and he seems stiff. I'll be surprised if he makes it a month.

He's on for 6 weeks. Then other guest hosts come on.
But I agree. Don't think he is a good fit in the long run. His voice is too bland.
Perhaps the man is capable of learning new things? Let's wait and see.
They'll need a woman or POC if they don't want to get dumped on by twitter mobs

Right now he seems a touch stiff and almost nervous. I think the delivery would improve as he settles in. It's gotta be very difficult to keep the flow of the show moving smoothly with so many moving parts.
IDK if he'll be the long term solution for Sony though.
Jennings is doing a really good job. I hope he becomes long term host.

Could not believe that the sports writer guessed 10,000 meters. Also could not believe the champ guessed 10 meters!
So, sports writer basically means baseball, football, basketball? Who cares about T&F, Tennis, Soccer, etc? Also, I know that American's aren't good at the metric system but I thought people generally understood a meter is just over a yard. How can we guess 10m would even be a running event at all?
Questions were:
In 2014 Kenya's Dennis Kimetto ran one of these in 2 hours, 2 minutes & 57 seconds.
Hicham el Guerrouj holds the world records in the mile & this metric track distance that's a bit shorter.
It must be a little intimidating for the contestants when they give a wrong answer thinking he is probably laughing at how dumb they are.
This post was removed.
If you're going to mock them at least show you know the answer. Clearly you don't as you've got the wrong info.
D'oh.
Mayim Bialik is doing an amazing job as guest host. Now she's my favorite to win the job. So competent with an earned doctorate in neurology from UCLA, yet not snooty or pretentious. She has a great stage presence from her successful acting career. And very relational to the contestants. She, like the other guest hosts, gets stronger with each episode. If she wins the job, producers will need to work with her to tweak a bit of a nervous laughter and some upward inflection at the end of some statements that betrays some slight insecurity. But that's minor and fixable. She's a great solid host. Easy to watch the show with her as host.
I'm a huge fan of Ken Jennings, but as a guest host, he felt like a square peg in a round hole. Amazing as a contestant, but not so much as a host. His voice is too high and squeaky, and he didn't exude an aura of relaxed relational skills on camera.
I was unfamiliar with Mike Richards, and he did a surprisingly good job.
Katie Couric, too pretentious.
Dr. Oz doesn't generate much respect in his role as a celebrity doctor.
Aaron Rodgers is a super sharp guy even though since sports is his main career, but too wooden in his responses and interactions with contestants. He never seemed relaxed.
Anderson Cooper, meh.
Bill Whitaker is very likeable as a person, but his interactions and responses seemed slow and uninspiring.
Buzzy Cohen was good for the Tournament of Champions since he's a previous winner, but he's a bit much to take on a regular basis.
Upcoming guest hosts are:
Savannah Guthrie
Dr. Sanjay Gupta from CNN
George Stephanopoulos
Robin Roberts from ABC GMA
LeVar Burton
David Faber from CNBC
Joe Buck. Really?
Maybe one of these will be an outstanding surprise.
I don't expect to be awed by Guthrie, Gupta, or George. Robin Roberts is an amazing person, and she might be the best of these still to come. I know little about Burton and Faber. I'm not sure how Joe Buck got included. Maybe they plan to do surprise co-hosting with Troy Aikmen.
With all the lobbying LeVar Burton has done and the media powers pushing him as the inevitable pick to get the permanent gig, consider me very unimpressed so far. If I’m being very nice, I’d put him in the middle of the pack. Maybe he’ll improve as he works through a few more games, but there’s no way he should get the full-time host position based on his actual performance.
Lavar Burton is terrible, the worst host to this point. Was impressed by Sanjay Gupta, he was the best to date in my book.

Good lord, that was clumsy.

Agree on both points. Burton is not good and Gupta, though not perfect, was in the upper echelon.
Embarrassing how much they’re pushing for this guy to get the permanent host position.
