Contact tracing data shows you have a 10% chance of being infected if you spend 15 minutes indoors within 6ft of an infected person. That rises to about 15% with the new variant.
So...even if you are within arm's length of an actively infected person for 15 minutes, you still have an 85-90% chance of being uninfected.
I think it stands to reason that being 6 feet away from someone outdoors for 1 second poses essentially zero risk.
