Just like Toni said, this also reminded me of Kipchoge's 1st attempt at sub 2 in 2017. SO, SO close. Thought he had it that whole long straightaway.

Brutal, missed it by 11 seconds.
OMG. That would be SO hard to swallow!
I smell a conspiracy. Someone didn't want Jim getting it.
I wonder how much money that 11 seconds cost him?
I'm torn between:
"Wow. Incredible run."
and
"WHY WHY WHY did you spend all this time fiddling with your watch. Maybe because he was delirious, but why didn't the people in the car say so. Give the man splits. Know how far he is from the finish."
I feel for him. It was a frustrating watch.
He was checking his watch even more than Bekele did in Berlin. I can understand checking his watch, but why was he presing so much buttons at the end?
Good barf shot.

Leaving your watch alone isn’t going to get you an extra 12 seconds. It didn’t make the difference.
The finish straight camera was misleading. I was sure he had it and then . . . .
I guess he had gone away from the timing, anyway very entertaining race all the way through, heartbreak for being like 10s after 6+ hours running...
Yeah, the watch stuff was hard to witness. One thing to keep glancing at it, but that reaching repeatedly across his body to hit buttons was not an efficient way to run fast. Awesome effort!!
Camera compression always makes distance look shorter. He lost it in the last 5K.

With a minute to go, I thought, "No way he doesn't get it. There has to be about 200m left, if that." But that straightway was a lot longer than it looked.
What a heroic run. Absolutely brutal to come that close after 6 hours...
Just imagine how much he would have broken the record if he wore an actual super shoe with pebax foam.
This! why hoka not give him a vaporfly fighter for this event. Gotta be worth a ton of time.

Me too. Totally thought he had it and then realize oh now. I filmed myself yelling at TV.

So close and what a great run.
