What's the best direction for him? Keep going for 15/5k? Move up to 10k? Try out the longer road scene for a bit?
He recently followed NAZ, Reebok Boston TC, and Hoka on IG but it doesn't say much.
North Carolina puma group with Cragg

Hopefully the roads. No reason the US couldn't have more 2:06 type marathoners and no reason he couldn't be one of them. Things look a lot less crowded for 2024 in the marathon than they do in the 5k/10k too.
He was never able to match his 3k ability in the 5k, so I doubt he is going to be a great marathon guy.
Definitely had amazing accomplishments for someone with his high school credentials, and I wish him the best moving forward.

This makes a ton of sense. He know Cragg. He is from NC.
I hope he stays on the track. He ran some PRs under Jerry but he spent most of his time with Jerry injured or under perofrming.

Basically these have nothing to do with eachother, as the marathon is much more highly dependent on the training completed than 3k PR.
For those envisioning future improvements in a different environment, different event, etc. ... I'm not seeing it. Schumacher trains the living piss out of his athletes - some make it, some get destroyed. There's usually not much left. Bayer and Hughes have both stagnated to been a bit worse. Who am I missing?
He got dropped by Nike (or was offered a super low contract) so he was essentially forced to leave. But probably a good career move none the less at this point.
Hoka NAZ, Sal with the scoop as per usual
Hughes ran a 5k PR less than a year after leaving Jerry

That means nothing. Hughes is a steepler lol. He joined later in his career. Hard to say he ever ran bad. Bayer left because he wasn't able to handle the training, sure, but if you've noticed he finishes 4th a lot.

Hueling*** of course
How does it mean nothing? He ran 13:19 while with Jerry (2015 I think) and his best 5k in recent years was 13:39. He leaves BTC and runs 13:13 indoors before covid cancels everything. Also ran 8:16 for the steeple and 3:37 this year. I’m not saying he’s better off now that he’s left Jerry, my point was just that Hughes hasn’t gotten worse since leaving the group as someone else stated

Yeah I’m not going to agree that a runner being better at 3k than 5k has “nothing to do” with what their marathon potential might be.
This is my guess. Amy Markovic liked his post on IG and with the success of Hehir and Bennie at the Marathon Project, I can see RBTC trying to capitalize on their fifteen minutes of fame

We already know the NJNY team got dropped and all if not all of their runners got dropped by Hoka. Now very possible that Hill has been dropped by Nike.
So as 2020 comes to a close who else does everyone think will be dropped by their shoe company?
Good guy, great runner.
There was a three year stretch for Hill that was amazing.
Most any runner would give their eye teeth to have had his career; which is not over by the way.
The business of being a professional athlete is only stable for however long a contract is for. 2020... the change in date of the Olympics, companies not making as much money due to the Wuhan virus.
My guess is he will continue with his running career with a group on the east coast.
Best of luck to Hill with where ever his future leads.
He didn’t leave. He was dropped.
Alistair is picking up the scraps. This will be a disaster. And Puma sucks.
