Over the past few months a runner popped up on segments I've run with times that are questionably fast or just odd given the circumstances. (5 minute pace in the middle of a 90 minute run, ridiculously fast hill sprints as a shakeout run for a trail ultra according to the guy's posts.)
From what I see the runner never posts heart rate data. On one segment, the elevation track doesn't match the other runners' elevation track from the leaderboard.
This isn't a case of a casual cyclist forgetting to mark the activity down as a bike. The guy lists himself as a nationally ranked trail/ultra/etc, etc runner and he writes several paragraphs about each of his runs.
I know Strava isn't perfect. I've had Strava cut off the first 8 secs of a TT to give me a segment time I didn't run but it's clear from the actual run time what I really ran. That doesn't seem to be the case with these runs.
I don't care enough to call the guy out by name but do people somehow manipulate their gps data to claim KOMs? Also, I know Strava lets you block others from viewing hr data but from what I see pretty much everybody posts it. Is blocking hr data a common thing?
Yes, I know Strava is silly and vain. I'm just curious if other people have seen similarly odd results.
