I'm a mid pack runner 165 LBS and pretty friggin disappointed because I have never had this foot pain before.
should I try again with lacing them a different way or just ebay them and take a loss.
Your first time in carbons/Next%? If so there is an adjustment period. Your foot against the propulsive rocker is not required to move as much which if used right (race day 1 session/month) can be very efficient. The adjustment period usually takes 30-40miles during which you may have odd ankle, foot, hip discomfort.
The other side of the spectrum is using carbons too much and you weaken your kinetic chain
It might help to be more specific about the foot pain.
Don't bother with them for easy runs. Try them out on a tempo run or some long intervals.
If you've never run in a plated shoe expect a period of adjustment. Also don't do 'easy runs" in them. Thats the other issue.
Slowly incorporating them into your training for speed work, a mile here, a few miles there. After a few runs your foot and body will adjust.
main issue is doing easy miles in a racing carbon fiber plate shoe. might help to actually describe what your foot pain is
I would treat them a bit like spikes - so put them on to do strides in at first, but easy strides, just like a little less than your race pace.
I don't claim to know tonnes about these shoes but from what I know they are not for jogging around in. When you jog your foot is in a very different position to your race pace.
I get plantar fasciitis if I use arch supporting socks with my VF's.

Go run a hard tempo.
First off your a dingus for buying them to do general runs in. Second there’s no real adjustment period. Odds are the way you’re running plus the shoe not letting you do what you naturally do are causing a disturbance somewhere. I’d put money on you not being used to running however you ran for 40 mins.

Oh, by the way, shouldn't you be able to sell them for $100+ more than you paid? That's what they told me on another thread. I commented that I walked into a store and there they were. Right on the wall. No flashing lights. Posters said they didn't believe it because I would have bought all they had and sold them online if that story were true. Of course, there are those back at HQ whose job is to pump up the hype.
