I've been running for years and haven't improved for years. I used to be decent, but I've been on a long, slow ride to hobbyjogger-dom. I'm still young, so age isn't the issue, but my times are pretty bad generally, though I'm stuck at them. I don't know what to do to improve, it seems like anymore that I'm in a perpetual base phase, and I either am always trying to "build" without really building, or I'm stuck in an injury cycle.
It's been years since I've done workouts consistently, and I'm wondering if I should stop trying to "build" all of the time, and just start training, even though it's not the "ideal" training, or if I'm not at (what I persieve to be) a high enough mileage. Basically I'm wondering if I stop trying to have the ideal schedule, and rather just do what I can (as far as adding workouts), if I'll see improvement.
Let me know your experiences and if you have any advice for me. I could give you more info about my running background if you'd think it would help, I just wanted to keep my initial post relatively concise. Thanks.
