will he be better than nico?
This is utterly insane! Do you have a link to full results?
Best source I could find.
No rail. track finishes downwind. Unofficial time trial. Rolling start. They wouldn't have broken 15 if legit.
Its a track. If the finish is downwind, then that means he's running a quarter to a half of the race into the wind. The absence of a rail doesn't make you 2 seconds faster, let alone 30. I got some news for you: If he runs this on a track with a rail and no wind, he'll probably run faster than 14:27, not above 15. Stop berating the kid for a 14:27 time trial, I'm sure its minutes faster than anything you will do anyway.

No. Nico was arguably in the top 5 of all time. 14:27 equates to about 9:00 and many sophomores have run that fast.

In a forum of idiotic posts, this might be one of the worst I’ve ever seen. I’m blown away.
Hey if 30 of the best guys from the entire nation were questioned for breaking 15 at RunningLane, how could anyone believe that 5 guys from the same team could do it?

Because this is a track. Newbury would’ve scored 20 points at RunningLane.
This is impressive. I wonder what the long term progression will look like for them the next 4-6 years
Are you scoring only their number 1? Jack Scherer had absolutely the race of his life at RunningLane finishing 9th and beating a bunch of guys who had beaten him during the year. At Desert Twilight, he beat all but one guy from Newbury Park who beat him by 1 second. So dropping the guys in at Runninglane proportionate to Scherer's time and his relative time at Desert Twilight, they go about 9-15-20-25-35. You can verify the times but will agree that I am pretty close with the total score.
Mr short course is being sarcastic. He's making fun of a guy who questions every decent girl's high school result, actually quite funny. Quite a performance by np, they are mostly still underclassmen, so let's hope we see them in a normal 2021 xc season.
Was this a real track meet? I have only seen the Instagram post.

Sure but that is because the 5k on the track is rarely run. This is like a 8:55 3200 which is definitely a fantastic time but one we see on a some what regular basis. That. being said it is December. Kid could be running 14:15 by June....

8:55 for a soph would be like, top 3-5 all time. I think Hunter and Hulst have better times but I'm not aware of others.
From what I can tell, you got
Cole Sprout 8:46
Eric Hulst 8:49
Drew Hunter 8:50
Verzbicas 8:51
then another 5 guys under 8:55 in 10th grade. So top-10ish all time in his only race of the year.

9 flat is perhaps the math conversion, but most 9 flat runner aren't going to run that fast because H.S. athletes don't train for the 5k. H.S. distance runners are actually middle distance runners. What they really want to do is run a sub-4 mile. With that said, I would suspect at least 8:55 capability.

Lets look at the times in the past half dozen or so years.
Sherry ran a 8:54 indoors in 2019. Puffer should get an. honorable mention breaking 9 indoors with a limited outdoor season
Matt Strangio ran an 8:56 in 2018.
Alex Maier ran an 8:52 in 2017.
Chris Largent ran a 8:58 in 2015.
Austin Tamagno ran a. 8:57 in 2014
2mile we have
Cole sprout 8:49 in 2018
joshua Schumacher 8:58 2016
That is 7 performance that are +- a couple seconds of this performance (VDot gives me 8:55/8:58). So yeah this is the performance we see from the top sophmores almost every year. But again it is early in a relatively odd year. It is tough to put a lot of context on it. Now if he runs sub 14:00 in the spring and we go from yearly talent to generational talent:).
