Top entries so far:
Mia Barnett (CA)
Julia David-Smith (WA)
Abby Vanderkooi (MI)
Sophie Atkinson (TX)
Sydney Thorvaldson (WY)
Brynn Brown (TX)
Entry list finalized November 27th.
Are we not going to get Brynn, Thorvaldson, AND Hutchins in one race together? As exciting as it is to see two of them racing against each other, I think we all can't help but still be disappointed. It was also be nice to see other's like Rauber in the race.

It'll be exciting to see!

1. Thorvaldson
=Hutchins
=Brynn Brown
[POWER GAP]
Vanderkooi, Rauber, Masciarelli, etc -
Hutchins, Brown and Thorvaldson sit at 1, 3 and 4 on the list of the all time fastest times ever recorded on a 5K cross country course. I dont think people appreciate that we are living in an era of super fast elite females in cross country running all at the same time. I guess they are too busy bitching about fast courses and speed ratings to appreciate whats happening in front of them. But it doesnt surprise me here.
Its really unfortunate we couldnt get all three ladies on the course at the same time for one head to head to head race for all the marbles. But at least we are getting two. I dont think either of them will get even a whiff of Hutchins' 15:58 on this course but I do expect multiple ladies under 17. -

Predictions:
First easily Thorvaldson
Second Vanderkooi
Third Rauber
Fourth Brown
Thorvaldson will win by 7-10 seconds Over Vanderkooi who will put on a heck of a fight (she is a big meet gamer). Third and fourth could go either way, but I will take Rauber in a sprint to the finish over Brown who has no speed. -
Speed is not required for 5k or for finishing sprint.
-
Predictions:
1. Thorvaldson
2. Brynn Brown
3. Vanderkooi
4. Rauber -
Rauber is not running this meet.
Any predictions on how close the others will finish or what the winning times will be? -
I think it will be very competitive, but im starting to think Thor pulls out the win, by a margin of 3-7 seconds over Brown.
Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if Brown wins, either. -
I dont know who is going to win but I can tell you one thing. Brynn Brown really doesnt like second place...

Laughable -
I don't see Bolt kicking too many people down in the 5k.
-
Nice strawman
-
How about Farah? One of the best kickers of all time but less speed than any of his competitors.

Found a website for this meet. Results will probably be posted here. Not sure if entries will be posted after entry deadline.

Correct. She's on the entries list for the AAU Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, which is also on 12/05:

Rauber's on the list, along with Lauren Ping, Tatum David, Riley Stewart, Mia Prok (who was 2nd to Hutchins @ Runninglane), and some others who should help drive the pace. -
Correction: Mia Prok is actually in the 13-14 age category, so she won't be running against the others I mentioned who are in the 15-18 age category.

I am almost certain they are just listing the entries by age and that Prok will move up. Bethany Michalak who is #16 on the speed listing list and CO 4A state champ (Prok was 2nd) is also listed in the 14 year old group. -
By the way being listed in the AAU entries does not necessarily mean they won't be in Lubbock. Julia David-Smith is on the list but apparently has dropped out and is going to Lubbock instead. She is #19 on the speed ratings list.

Vanderkooi is getting overlooked here because she doesn't run super fast solo races. But she always shows up when there is competition. Last year she won Footlocker Midwest over Dudek, Ewert, and Hart. She then ran 16:55 at FLN which would have won every FLN race but two since it returned to Balboa Park in 2002. I wouldn't be surprised at all if she wins this race.
Her speed rating of 166 from FLN is higher than Brown has ever gotten on these short TX courses. And Thorvaldson has only done better once. And there are indications that Vanderkooi is faster this year than last.
It should be a great race in any case.
