My local turkey trot had a in person + virtual race. This seems a bit absurd to me & I did not participate but anyways...
I looked up the results the morning of the race to see someone had won quite easily. At the time, I thought it was an in person race only but the the next day I saw someone post about completing it "virtually". I went back to check the results and there was a new winner by a couple of seconds.
I went into LetsRun investigation mode & was able to find the athlete's winning activity. It was a manual upload with zero data posted much later in the day. From the site it looks like he was officially declared the winner. This seems so ridiculous to me that I can't help but find it funny but I'd sure be pissed if I was the winner of the real race. Has anyone else seen a rogue virtual winner ? I would think they would at least require GPS data. Racing is in a sad place.
