Grijalva: 7:42
Hunter: 7:44

Grijalva's on fire
Grijalva is legit but can we talk about how bad tinman has done with Drew Hunter as a pro?
Hunter has run 1:48 but cannot kick to save his life. His form is garbage. tinman can't even keep him consistently healthy with his "keep the ball rolling" training.

Wrong time of the year to be on fire.

Yeah, being in shape in the fall is such a bad idea.
no cones, no curb
Cut Nico some slack probably getting used to collegiate training load plus adapting to training at altitude plus sure he is doing heavy base training. Let’s see how Cross goes in March

It’s not just drew they’re screwing.
Ps nice post wesfly?
When did 2 seconds in a 3k become smoking someone? Why does someone's good race have to be framed as putting down another run who also seems to have had a good race? Why is a small, non representative (look at their fans/views/merch) of the general running community, subset of LRCers so dang jealous of all things Tinman?

I mean Drew hasn’t lost to someone his own age or younger that’s American since??? I don’t even know... his freshman year in high school? It’s a big deal that he’s been pro for over four years and got destroyed over the last 800. Luis is a fantastic runner, he has been improving every year which is hard because he is already so elite.
The fact that people on here have been saying it’s strange Drew is with Tinman still is telling. It doesn’t matter if this is just letsrun. The running community is small and people know that he should be elsewhere. Now I don’t know the specifics of his contract’s expiration, but I will say that he should make a decision whether he wants to be a world-class runner or a national-class one.
Luis looked great. We’ll see how the two run in their 5k in two weeks. I’m expecting around 13:20 for both.
Had the headline been "Hunter smokes field in 7:44", would some of you still be putting him down? So if Grijalva ran 7:46, most of you would be saying that Hunter had a good race and should be winning because he is a pro. Grijalva has elevated himself to another level. That is not a thing that Hunter can control or should be ashamed of. Every great high schooler does not go on to run 12:55. Celebrate both performances. My prediction would have been Hunter 7:47, Grijalva 7:48, and Young 7:56. Two of the three ran faster than I predicted.
TM is all he’s ever known. Where would you suggest he goes? Beasts?!?
I do admire runners’ eternal optimism, but we need to stop being delusional: Hunter is never going to be a world-class runner. He’s what, 23 now?
Meanwhile, the world 5 & 10K records were broken this year, two teenagers ran 7:27 over 3K, and at least a half dozen guys from a single training group in the US set new 5K PRs :10-:30 faster than Hunter’s.

You like to throw in hypotheticals. You love the word “would.”
Results are results. Drew lost. This is news. Drew has been the best runner his age in America since 2013.
This is a good point. Drew has an obvious ceiling.

But the thing is this is not the headline. This did not happen. What happened was Luis took Drew to the cleaners over the last K even if drew was leading. Cooper Teare, Yared Nuguse are also capable of what Luis did last night.
Drew is not alone anymore, the 21-22 year olds are coming.
Drew has had a fantastic career, though. We are all excited to keep watching him grow.
Yet, no smoke without fire... should drew leave tinman? The majority of us would be happy to hear that happen instead of having him train with 13:40 guys and a solid half marathoner in reed. Good for them for chasing the dream, Drew is just chasing a different dream.
Yes he lost. He is what he is. It does not change his 7:44 if Young had run 7:30 or if Grijalva had run 8 minutes. That was my point. Hunter looks to be a lifetime 13:10 guy, not a 12:55 guy. That will be a great time for an American even if not world class. Good for him. Great for Grijalva for running 7:42. He looks to be on the verge of world class.
Are there full results somewhere?

+1000
Good results from the top two in a strange year.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
