I suppose there is an argument that runners aren’t athletes in general.

Tom Brady is a world class athlete? He can throw a football. I don't think he can do anything else. I would throw a world class hurdler into soccer or football or rugby or basketball and they would run circles around Tom Brady. Brady is an old man who couldn't compete at anything other than the NFL or maybe the PGA. Don't you see how silly the comparison is? Brady probably couldn't run 100 meters in 15 seconds.

Its tough because running isn't really a skill based sport, it is mostly genetic. Hurdling does require skill, but it also requires mostly a good genetic build. So it is tough to be a considered a "world class athlete" when a lot of the sport is determined at birth.
Skill does not necessarily make something a sport. I would argue that a "sport" or "sporting event" is one in which the competition follows a set of rules and a winner can be determined objectively. It doesn't necessarily have to be athletic.
So running / hurdling does count as a sport, as the winner is first one across the line. Gymnastics is not a sport as "winning" is solely based on subjective measures, although no one would argue that a gymnast is more athletic than a distance runner.
And it is this logic that allows for the idea that video games could be an Olympic sport, because winning is objective and it is mostly skill based, not athletic.
Tom Brady was a great baseball player, great football player, and plays ok golf. I agree thought Tom Brady isn’t athletic per say. But maybe that makes him an ever better athlete then others. He has less to work with and is still competitive in multiple sports due to his mind, competitiveness, and leadership. All of those skills have really no place in running, especially sprinting that requires little strategy.
Michael Jordan proved that he was not a world class athlete.
I would say Grant Holloway is a close to a world class athlete that you'll ever see.
LeBron = world class athlete
Jordan = not world class
Tom Brady = not world class
Tiger Woods = not world class
Mondo Duplantis = world class
Bo Jackson = world class
JJK = world class
Mondo is not a world class athlete, not even close. Grant can at least entertain the conversation, Mondo can’t even be mentioned
This is an ignorant debate.
Holloway is one of the most athletic athletes in the sport of Athletics. He is the World Champion in the 110H. He is also world class in the LJ, 60m and have you seen him on the 4x4. He is one hell of a competitor!
He is one of the most athletic persons on the planet.
You ARE a troll for two reasons:
1. You must be open to the possibility of changing your mind. You aren’t!
2. You’ve been proven wrong multiple times in this thread, but you keep moving the goal posts.
Additionally, this has been discussed here a few times on this forum already. Sucks to suck. You lose.
I think it is hard to consider him a "world class athlete". In myu opinion there are only a couple "World Class Athletes" in the world. Hence why we call it "World Class". A world class athlete in my opinion must be able to have the following: great athletic ability, great leadership, durability, ability to handle incredible pressure. I think track athletes have trouble because they can't show that they have all these skills. Once again he is amazing at track. But he performs for less then 1 min in everything he does, and track skills are mostly genetic and then small improvement is shown with incredibly hard work. The sport of track does not have the elements of decision making, leadership, nor the pressure of other sports due to little media coverage or and little fans. He is an AMAZING track athlete, probably the best in the world. But no not a world class athlete.
You are right. Grant is world class - a great champion and athlete as a sprinter, hurdler, and jumper.
True, world class hurdler

Correct, Tom Brady can throw a football and he can think on his feet, athletically he is a stiff.
He was a good HS baseball player, that is it, just like 10,000 other HS kids. Being an OK golfer makes him very average, most people suck at golf and there are tons of OK golfers. Even when he was not an old man , he couldn't move faster than a turtle, now he moves like a statue.
lebreezy jimbo is an athleisurist, same with your homes patrick.
srs what they do involves elements of athletics, but they don't need to be and definitely aren't the best at ANY athletic aspect. yeah they run, sprint, jump and throw, good for them. not at the highest level.
the coordination etc, whatever specifics they do of course to learn from childhood, but only cause that's how the brain works, not that it's necessarily super hard compared to training actual athleticism. not exactly athletic guys like xavi, bird, ruth etc are legends in what you dare to call 'sports'. grant worked on ballgame specifics but noticed he's excelling at the athletic parts more than the compensatory stuff meant for the guys that aren't athletic enough but who can still make it in athleisure

Being world class at any sport is determined at birth. If you're short and slow you'll never be in the NBA. If you're slow and have bad hand eye coordination you'll never go to the NFL, MLB, etc
What about examples such as Steph Curry? He isn't extremely tall, fast, or strong?
You're a world class tool.
Lol butthurt
These track kids need to stop getting mad that NFL players can do the same job they do. They choose football because there is money in football. If grant was god enough to play in the NFL he would have for the money.
Mondo got full D1 scholarships for baseball. You have no clue how athletic that dude is.

No. He chose not to. Did you know that participation levels are way down for football? Coleman would make a bundle as a kick returner. Holloway could make a bundle in football if he wanted to. Bolt could have made even more than either of them. You have it backwards. Track runners are faster than football players but they choose not to play. Football players choose it because they were not fast enough for track.
