Hey all,
I would like some advice on my running "career" and when should I listen to my body and give it up. A little background on me, I was a high school "stud" ranked top 30 in the nation in the 800 and arguably the best distance recruit in my class for my state. I was a first gen college student, so I stupidly stayed in state and got injured basically immediately. Ended up running on a team that did pretty well at NCAA's in XC and then fared OK in track before getting surgery and transferring. Fast forward some years, I am running faster for a different school but no where close to where I thought I would be, so I opted out of my last year of eligibility and just finish school. I took about 3.5 years off, started training again and missed USA indoors by less than a second in 2019 (in a weaker event). I have continued to train but always seem to get injured right as I feel fit again. I have more or less been somewhat injured since 2012 and had a few surgeries, injections, etc. I feel like I have a little shot in making the trials or at least having that goal is what gets me out of the door. I am turning 27 in a few weeks, got laid off because of covid so I have been training quite a bit in all of this. I still love the sport, but not sure if I love racing anymore. Should I give it a shot and just suck it up?
p.s. I am not a troll, I am just genuinely curious
