This was his first outing under the French colors since winning the European 10,000 m championships in 2018. The sad thing is some people will remain suspicious about his performances but that is always the way things go in athletics especially in track and field.

Well, I'm French and I can tell you that here nobody has forgotten the Whatsapp/ARD story of last year.

Amdouni was not welcomed when he came back this winter during the cross country season. He is a talented runner obviously and I'm impressed with his performance of course. That doesnt mean I trust him.

I understand your reticence and your doubts about this runner, but although there was suspicion about his performances in the past, there was no proof beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed any infractions so I think we have no option but to give the benefit of the doubt to this runner.

Je pense que Morad a été très courageux de revenir malgré les doutes sur ses performances dans le passé. J’espère qu’on lui donnera sa chance de prouver qu’il peut courir de façon « Clean” en compétition. Moi je suis comme vous monsieur, je n’aime pas les tricheurs, mais je pense qu’on a une fâcheuse tendance à condamner les gens qui font de bonnes performances sans vraiment connaître la situation.

It’s getting old.

Nothing except Whatsapp messages and sworn statements.

Knowing nothing about this guy and having zero intel about this story, he has to be assumed to be a doper. These sort of messages are more damning than whereabouts failure (Manangoi, Coleman et al) in my view. A vast made-up doping conspiracy to take down this athlete (through made-up messages) is way more far-fetched than carelessness by athletes.
