I'm a sophomore girl in high school, and for the past five months my legs have felt dead. Every run over a mile I run either my legs feel like they are dead or my calves to my hamstrings burn really bad. Honestly I feel really embarrassed because all the girls I could compete with last year have improve a bunch and I have done the opposite. Last year my PR was a 20:49 with a 21:00 average 5k now this year it is a 21:24 with a 22:00-22:30 average 5k. Also, because of my legs I have butt heads with my coach a lot because he thinks it is all mental or he doesn't believe my legs feel bad actually unless someone else says theirs don't feel good. I have had my blood work done and all my levels were normal, and I know it isn't over training because I usually run like 25 miles a week. Could it be lack of endurance because I only do one work out a week that isn't a tempo run and sometimes I don't even do a long run some weeks? I've been trying to look back at what I did this past track season and even though we didn't have meets I was running my best ever I could run my runs consistently at 8:00 minute pace and I felt great now I run 9:00 minute pace and it feels horrible. Also, in track I have the same coach and I was running 30 miles a week with two workouts a week: a tempo or far lick run and a repeat or ladder run. We also did a long run every week and my legs felt really great. This season is just really frustrating and I don't feel any motivation to keep running, I hope somebody could share any information on what could be wrong with me.
