The 34 year old Spaniard is destroying the world No.1 Djokovic in the final of the French Open. 6-0 in the first set. No player at this stage of their career can be physically so dominant and over a player of Djokovic's calibre.

Great logic.
They're less than a year apart in age. So if Nadal should be in decline, Djokovic should be heading the same way. Then it's still the greatest player of all time clay, against a player who isn't really close to that.
Nadal is known as the King of Clay.
If near peak form, no one is beating Nadal on clay.

Djokovic has often beaten Nadal on clay, including at the French Open. He is the world no.2 because he is overall a better player than Nadal. Today he has no chance. Nadal plays the most physical game of any player in the history of the game and is stronger and faster than ever at 34. He has lost nothing in 15 years. Impossible.
*World no.1.
The head to head between these two at Roland Garros before today:
Nadal 6 wins
Djokovic 1 win (when Nadal was injured)

Djokovic has dominated Nadal in recent years. (Before that, over 2017/18 Federer was totally on top of Nadal). Djokovic was killing Nadal last year. He has beaten him many times on clay over their careers. The match today should at least be close but Djokovic is being destroyed and is down 0-6, 2-6. That is like a player barely in the top-200, not the current world no.1. The physicality of Nadal's game is beyond belief. There's no way any player should be so strong, fast and tireless at 34 - and more so than at any time previously in his career. Add to that, in 15 years Nadal almost invariably is at his peak at the French Open, winning 12 times, while losing in other clay court tournaments. It's Lance Armstrong in the TDF.

It is not impossible at 34, cleanly.
I am not saying Nadal is clean—but who cares? You think Djokovic is clean?

But if you include the Masters clay tournaments since 2011 their record is close. Djokovic is one of the best clay players out there. But he has no chance today. This match isnt a match. It's an annihilation of one of the greatest players in the history of the sport.
Get a life.

That's what makes Nadal's feat even less credible. Djokovic is also likely to be on something. His stamina is off the wall. So when he is being killed it is just too obvious.
At 34 Nadal has also been playing the game at the same level of physicality for over 17 years. His game is unbelievably brutal. Yet he never ever tires. Before him tennis was never played like that - and for so long.

Always good to hear an informed view.

Djokovic is not the best player, he is just the most consistent. It's the same in running. Otherwise Lewandowski wouldn't have been able to beat Ingebrigtsen in Doha World's 2019 if it was about the fitter runner/or the one with the higher threshold or 1500m PR/ability. But Ingebrigtsen and his coach do some silly things like thinking doubling at World's is gonna increase their chances to medal when all it did was make him tired for the 1500 where all he needed to do was to outrun Lewandowski and Makloufhi and get silver behind Cheruiyot.
A Federer in top shape playing his A-game or Nadal doing the same beats Djokovic 90% of the time. The thing is Nadal plays his A-game 30% of the time, and Federer even less, and Djokovic does it almost always.
Also, Djokovic lost (if he does) this year's French Open in the semi-finals, where he had to go 5 tough sets against one of the best players in the world. Nadal meanwhile stomped all his games 3-0, he never let anyone challenge him just cruising to finals conserving as much energy as possible. And obviously, on sand he is the best player of all time, Djokovic already said before the tournament started that Nadal is always favorite in Roland Garros.

Always bad to hear your dope fixation.
The real question from this match: who is that girl who's sitting with Nadal's wife?
Djokovuc now up 5-4 in the third set. Did he pop some roids at the end of set 2?
Why do you guys think drugs are necessary to play your best tennis at 34. In a skill based sport you should get better with age.34 is not that old for tennis you can play the came for all your life, although not at an elite level.

I've played the game and watched it since the Laver and then Borg era. It's become incredibly physical. Yes, it's a skill-based game now but the strength, speed and stamina at the top is off the charts. But what Nadal does is physically unprecedented. Till he came along most top players were done by age 30 - if not well before. He has been playing this way since he turned pro at 16, and is stronger and faster than ever. He can't miss. I've never seen anything like it. No one comes close to playing like him, in terms of the exertion he puts into every shot out there. To me, it resembles Armstrong above all else.

Graphite racquets and the introduction of heavy top spin changed the game, tennis has become a more athletic sport. New athletes are More competitive and hungry, the game is played at a higher level now.
Nadal longevity is likely due to his mindset, he gives it all every point, and he just really loves the sport. You also have to realize these top athletes are rich and some spend over a million on physical therapy.

His sister.
