Men’s size 13 easy day/long run shoe?

My size is 12.5 and I also like Epic React, so perhaps my experience can help.

Look into Reebok TPU shoes.

Floatride forever energy (1/2), Symmetros.

They are great daily trainers for a lot of people. Weight a bit more than Epic React, but more than make up for that with that full rubber outsole. Last forever, too.

you can't go wrong with the Clifton 7. I'm also US13 (193cm, 88kg) and our paces are not too different. my shoe rotation consists of Cliftons, Pegasus Turbo 2 and Zoom Fly 3 for reference.

I’m size 13/14. I’m on my 6th pair of Clifton’s . Just got the Clifton 7 in 13. Liking them, but they seem a bit tighter than the 6’s and wish I would have got 14’s. Great easy run shoes!

Nice! Clifton 7 was at the top of my list purely based on the weight. Not too crazy that it’s EVA in pebax world, but whatever. I’m sure it’s fine for my slow runs.

I really liked the Turno 2, but man, cushion definitely wore out around 250 miles. Still running in them with 350 miles, but really feel it with 6+ mile runs.

Zoom Fly FK. Hated it! Just bottom heavy for me and was so much effort compared to every other shoe I own. Picked up a clearance pair of 4% for “marathon training runs” and hate those as well.

Next % though? Best shoe I’ve ever worn. Comfortable, smooth, legs felt great after. Love it.

Thanks. I have the first version of the FRRF and they’re cool up to a half. Heel feels great, but as a forefoot striker, definitely former up front. Still, will head to the Reebok store and give the forevers a go.

Not sure why such an emphasis on shoe size? Am also a 13, but have never read a single shoe review that has mentioned this as a criteria. And I've read thousands.

I wear a 13 in almost all running shoes. I wear a 12 in dress shoes and boots. My foot is also flat. I've had luck with Kinvaras, Freedom ISO, Turbo 1 and 2.

I have some alphaflys in 13 for sale if you’re interested. Maybe not the best easy day shoe though :)

6'180 size 13. When organized training picks up like to be sub 1:15HM.

If I were relegated to only concrete I would probably go for the Bondi. I tend to get shoes off clearance rack and accumulate many for different purposes. Examples that may help you out and some dark horses not mentioned:

1.) Adidas Boston 8: The resiliency of 3/4 length boost in an 8.6 oz (size 9) package. I believe the Boston 9 rectified the tight fitting thick upper of 8s. I resolved this by skipping lace holes and wearing for gym to stretch out. The curved last fits well with my Arch and I'm efficient in them up to 15miles

2.) Reebok FFE v2. This could be improved greatly by having a firmer compound around the heel and not making it so built up on medial side. Limited to 11 miles

3.) NB 1080v10: I've gone on many 14-17milers and the cushion is good and has a somewhat bounceback quality. But the heel collar is not really padded and can rub(forget sockless) the arch has a spandex like constriction that takes getting used to. I'd pass.

4.) *Hoka Challenger atr5. They're not a trail shoe. Think of them as a broader Clifton still being sub 10oz in a size 9. I tried these on in store and ordering. Biggest takeaway is they didn't have that arch bite that Clifton had.

5.) *Skechers gorun ride 8. Again didn't use these but it's supposed to be wider and true to size unlike GRR7 which I did have but limited use because of shorter length/width/volume.

The newest GRR8 also has hyperburst but in a stiffer form but I've heard it softens up but keeps its shape.

+1 for Reebok FFE been using this shoe a lot lately, they just feel good for everything. Since you mentioned you are a forefoot striker I would definitely recommend this over something like the Boston. I had the Boston’s they were ok but wished they had more boost in the forefoot.

I'd recommend the NB 1080v10 and the Asics Novablast. I have both in size 15D. They are both good options for a well-cushioned easy/recovery/long run shoe. I'm about 205 lbs and have similar HM PR (~1:36:00). I usually get ~250-300 miles out of most shoes.

Neither is particularly light, but for an easy/recovery/long shoe they are more than adequate. I prefer both of these to to the Clifton 7 or Rincon 1, which just don't fit my feet as well as the 1080v10 or the Novablast.

For tempo work or race-day shoes I prefer the NB Beacon (v1 is still my go-to), or the Brooks Hyperion Tempo.

I think you’ll really enjoy Hokas. My favorite pairs are the rincons and the cliftons. The cushion is super nice and gives my feet a break (idk about you but my ankles and shins get sore pretty easily because of my “large for a runner” build)

The trick with the hokas is to let yourself heel strike to get the full effect of the rocker. I am definitely a mid-forefoot striker but heel striking in my rincons on easy day is borderline euphoric.

wow, we're going through such similar experiences. I loved the turbo 2 and now it feels like I'm running on asphalt barefoot after 5-600km in them :) I was wondering if it was me or the shoes, your answer definitely puts an end to my questions :)

I don't know much about materials used in shoes, Cliftons are just great, they only get better over time.

If anyone stumbles across this looking for something similar:

I ended up going with the Saucony Endorphin Speed. So far I love them. Super light, great cushion, very responsive. The feel is similar enough to Next %.

I a/b tested in the store with Epic React. Granted my Reacts have about 350 miles on them, but the Sauconys blew them out of the water. No comparison. They’re my new daily trainer. I’ve done easy runs, long runs, tempo, hills, and they’ve been fantastic in all scenarios. At $160 all I can ask is they last at least 300 miles like most shoes and I’ll be thrilled.
