I first tried track in my senior year of high school during the indoor season. I am curious to see what you guys think about me trying to walk on to the team at my college.
My first time ever doing track I decided to be a jumper where I found a love for long jump. I didn’t really have good coaching or training so I think my abilities are based on raw talent. My pr for my one and only season (due to COVID) was around 6.5 meters. I never really trained and would love to hear what you guys think about my chances at a ncaa level. I’m dedicated to putting in the hard work, but don’t want to waste my time if you guys don’t think I could get to that level. I am currently 5 foot 9 and weigh about 145 pounds. I was never in the best of shape so I would think I could do lots of improving on my previous jumps.
I have had a little contact with some college coach’s, but due to my lack of experience (which was only one season of indoor track) they couldn’t offer me any spots on there teams. Because of corona I was never able to do outdoor and secure a position at a college and have then not even jumped very much. But as I am a couple months into my freshman year at UCONN I am really missing it and I hope some people are able to respond to this as to what they think I could possibly achieve and if wether or not I should go for it and try to walk on.
