I wore my new Peg 05's for only 20 miles before I was seriously frustrated enough to romove them and continue on barefoot. I've been on a Peg layoff for a year or so, and the 05's reminded me why. Nike sucks, and they are ruining the best trainer they have ever produced. Nike can sit on their f***ing shox and die.
I agree with the above, been wearing pegs for 4 years now, every model, loved all. I loved the 2005s until about 350 miles in my air bubble popped, thought maybe it was just a defect shoe so i took them back and got them replaced with a brand new pair, those lasted less than a f***ing week and the bubble popped (about 80 miles in them). Thought well third time is a charm so I got another pair and they popped about 100 miles in. I'm so mad there are no good neutral shoes by nike anymore, the motos suck, the skylons rip after a day, and the pegs air pops. I switched to the peg racers for now.
I've read few good things about the Nike Pegasus 2005.
Has anyone had good experiences with these shoes.
I'm currently running in the original Zoom Elites but I feel that they wear out too quickly.

I bought a pair after burning through another pair of Zoom Elites.
While there is a bit more shoe on your foot with the Pegasus, I'm really pleased with it so far. I love the upper, which is very flexible. I also like the fact that the tongue is stitched in place, rather than using a loop on the tongue to hold it in place with a shoelace.
Cushioning is a bit more than the Elite, but doesn't feel cumbersome to me.
For the money, I'm pleased with the shoe.
Nike has changed them a bit. They have a lighter feel than the older pegs so they don't have the same cushy feel. To me they feel perfect but if you are looking for the soft ride of the 2000-2004 Pegs you might want to look else wehere.

Do you think they would be ok with orthotics?
My orthotics didn't fit well in the structures but they fit perfectly in my elites.
I am not sure about the fit of orthos but I have to agree with the above assessment of the 2005. It definitely doenst have the same cushioned feel as the 2000-2004 but I liek it too and definitely feel the upper is a big improvement with breathability and I like the stitched in tongue.
I love the Elite shoe but like many feel it burns out quickly. I definitely recommend the 2005.

I run in the 2005 Pegasus and I use a half-foot insert for the arch and heel, on top of the existing pad. This makes it a challenge to string the laces together as there is less room in the shoe. However, if you remove the pad before putting in your orthodic rather then putting one on top of the other you should be fine.
I agree with everyone else, great shoe. I've been using the Air Pegasus since 2002.
The original pegasus' were just fine. Typical nike for changing them.
I just got the 2005 Pegasus about two weeks ago and I really like them. I wear orthodics and the shoe is deep enough for them. They seem to be a little lighter than the old pegasus shoe, I like the changes and would recommend them to those who have a pretty even foot placement.
If you like the old pegasus, these shoes won't work. Try the new Cumulus.
according to Nike the 2005 Pegasus is built on the 2003 Pegasus last, so it runs more narrow than the 2004 pegasus. Dunno how that changes the ride but if you have run in many iterations of this shoe, it'd probably not matter.

Any idea why they got rid of the EEEE extra wide, beyond the lame, not enough people bought them? Why not get rid of the useless EE which felt like the D to me? You either have wide feet or you don't.

i agree, can't beat the 2002's, still running in a pair and have a brand new pair in the closet with two new pairs of skylons, so we will see how they are after the pegs are used up
I found them to be stiff (with the air all the way through the sole) and narrow. Typical hard Nike feel (which many like).
yeah not enough cushion, way too much structure. And they tore open my heels. Ive been running the milers and havent gone back. i love the freedom in the forefoot.
I really enjoyed the 2004s and was skeptical about getting the 2005s after seeing reviews, but the 2005s feel lighter, have a little more forefoot cushioning (not necessary), and overall are a very nice ride. only had them for a week or so, but haven't encountered any trouble. stop the nike hating.
