Probably not 3:26, but if he can do 3:35 without ever having run further than 8 miles (as he claims), I'll bet he could shave quite a bit from that time.
Lol. Yes, and he upped it to 36 mile this summer and that is why he got injured. Can't handle mileage it seems.
A 49.xx/1:48.xx guy may need to log more mileage to race 3:35.xx 1500m than a 47.xx/1:42.xx guy. Some runners will only give you number of road miles if you ask how many miles per week. That's what I say when asked. If someone asks may how many miles per week, I just give road miles. I do not add in: 5 x 2000m &/or 6 x 1200m &/or 7 x 800m &/or ... .

Maybe you should meet more runners. I write down all running for the week but I do not see the value of adding one or two miles of warm up before track workout at 9 minutes per mile. Same for one or two mile runs post track workout at 9 minutes per mile. When some asks you your mileage, you break out your calculator? It is not weird to only count mileage runs. If you go one a 45 mile bike ride instead of a 10 mile run, do you count that also?
I believe it. I ran 10 seconds slower than him in the 800m and 19 seconds slower than him in the 1500 with the same mileage. No runs longer than 60 minutes, and only a few of those per year at that. If one can run 1:42 on 35 miles, I think one can run 3:35 as well. Upping my mileage significantly didnt improve my times.

Can you share a typical training week?
I don't really believe it either. I would guess he is doing 40-50 and doesn't do a long run.
As a 400m-800m guy, my mileage counts during track season were entirely fictional. I only know for a fact I did 25-30 miles on the road a week. I did not count my track reps, jog rest, unspecified distance warmups/cooldowns. I probably hit 40-45 miles some weeks, but I have no idea.
Random tidbit:
A guy I ran 800s against in high school trained with a 200/400 group, ran ZERO road mileage, his prs were
- He was at an incredibly dominant sprint school, so he ran 800m/1600m at every single dual meet to score points. I believe he's the fastest miler I knew who legitimately did not run mileage.
Brazier must be training like 12 times a week.
Let's say 3 times in the gym (wich is a lot) so that 9 workouts left.
So he's averaging 4miles per workout? come on.

I bet on ~60mpw off season and 40-50 in summer.
He should stick with the 800m and drop his "mileage" to 30 per week. Even that's too much for runners with superior speed and talent. The US has many great 800m runners who are superb 400m runners that never move up. They don't run mileage.
I'm not at all convinced he's doing doubles.
In the way a distance runner does doubles, I mean.

You can walk and get most of the same benefit. Not all that much jogging by some 200/400 groups between reps.

My comment was based on you saying that he has 9 running workouts a week. I think if he was running 9 times a week he should would be well aware that he is running more than 35mpw.
I think if he gets out twice a day it's the gym (like you mentioned) or stuff like drills, plyos, core.
Although I mentioned 200/400 training groups - I believe he is doing 400/800 from the speed end.
Man you guys really don't know anything about 800 runners. Brazier is a 400/800 guy. It does not matter that he has raced some fast 1500s. His training has set him up as a 400/800 from high school to present. A high jumper at my high school ran 1:58 without doing literally any distance running whatsoever. It does not surprise me in the slightest that Brazier can run 1:42 off of 35 miles a week. A typical week for an 800 runner like Brazier might look like this.
Monday: 3-4 miles
Tuesday: 1.5 warm up+4x1k+1.5 cool down
Wednesday: 3 miles
Thursday: 1.5 up + 6x400,300,200+1.5
Friday: 6 miles
Saturday: 1.5+3x200,150,100+1.5
Sunday: 7-8 miles.
