If you want to wear it casually, whatever, but for races or training it's time to stop with the poor college kid mindset and invest in some gear so you don't feel the need to parade around with the name of a college team you no longer compete for or honestly represent. For racing its a lil weird but no shame in wearing whatever to train, it's just training.
What is pathetic is caring about what someone is wearing on a training run.

Pretty privileged OP. A lot of schools will give their athletes nicer gear than they would buy for themselves. Obviously don't race in your college uniform, but if you have a nice bag w/ your alma mater's name on it why not use it.
This is a typical case of a poster not minding his own business. If you want to go buy a new kit, bag, warmups, t-shirts, and what not, go for it. If someone wants to warm up in a t shirt they got for free in college, go for it.

I think that running and working out in your old college T-shirt’s and sweatshirts is fine, I mean all it really is running gear that you don’t have to buy. I do draw the line at going to road races and track events and racing in your college uniform. I think that’s pretty weird, and honestly just looks unprofessional. But going for a run or doing a workout in your old teams gear is fine, everyone does it.

How many runners care about how their individual actions affect the reputation of all runners? And what's more, most runners (male) look like freakin weirdos in ANY running kit, and a lot of them look weird in street clothes. I don't think they should care what they look like. Also, if running was about aesthetics, then how would the best runners drop to 20-30 lbs below their ideal, attractive weight? They should accept they must run slower, so their gaunt appearance doesn't reflect poorly on aesthetically-minded runners such as yourself?

D3 guys hate showing at at road races in their 20's driving a 10 year old beater and wearing some cheap gear they bought online while parking next to a D1 guy driving a new Lexus and wearing a bunch of D1 gear.

You crack me up because I know people who look just like that description. :)
I did break out my old college singlet ONCE. I entered my team's home invitational as unattached not long after my 40th birthday. I was still running well enough to beat a few D1 runners and smoke a bunch of other D2 / D3 kids. Blasting by those young punks with some gray in the beard and a 20 year old singlet was kinda fun. I ditched the old shorts and the old XC spikes long ago but otherwise I might have insulted your sensibilities and for that, I apologize.
Your bad, I actually ran D1 with fair success. I can only conclude people are projecting with the D3 etc. noise. It takes a man to make a principled stand and that threatens weaklings.
In truth, I did the same thing and only want to see others avoid that pitfall.

I don't disagree with your comment, but please stop using the word "invest" for something that is just a straight up purchase of a disposable product. It's not like you're going to sell your old running clothes later for a gain. You don't "invest" in running clothes. You just buy them.
