Before a quality training session, I will run relax/comfortable for 5-12 minutes depending on how I feel. Usually in that time span, my body will be ready for the quality session to begin. Otherwise, for any other running I do, I do not warmup.
2-3 miles before speedwork
1-2 miles before a tempo or fartlek
When I was competing in my prime. Maybe 60 seconds for my morning run if that. Afternoon team workout? Too effing long! Maybe 20 minutes.
Now: About 3-5 minutes tops.
