Hi all, I've been running regularly for under a year now, but been active and doing sport my whole life (I'm 20 now). I got under 20 minutes in the 5K last November, then started training more often and broke 18 in March. Right after that, I couldn't run at all for 2 months due to COVID-19.
I'm hoping to break 17 minutes in the 5K to celebrate 1 year of running soon, and I've done solo time trials recently of 1km in 2:53 and 2km in 6:28. I run 30-35 miles a week since I also practice other sports, and currently weigh around 180 punds (I'm 6'2 and a half).
My question is, how hard is a 17 minute 5K really? How many people can do it? Do you think I can do it so soon, or I'll need more time? I think I'm at around 17:30 shape right now, and hope 2 months of training can get me to sub17 shape.
Also curious to now what my potential could be, after, say, 5 years of training (in the 5K, since I don't do to good in longer distances, I'm better at shorter stuff). Thanks!
