Wow, does not look that fast in the video but he really just walked away from the defense. They gave up 40 yards out.
And then he got injured?

I watched most of the 49ers games last year and his speed is really deceptive. On that play he was almost back on the 10 when got the ball and is at the 40 in a few seconds and it's over.
Last week he was almost as fast on this 76 yard reception (22.73 mph - fastest in 3 years).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PpIKs5sdlsFor some context, reaching 23.1mph is supposedly the equivalent of a 0.97 10 meter split. Which, in and of itself, isn't THAT great, but factoring in surface (turf) and gear (cleats, pads, helmet), that's probably more impressive than I realize.
For additional context, I'd say a 10.3/10.2 guy is almost certainly churning out a few .90 flat splits, and depending on skill set maybe even as low as a .89ish split, ON THE TRACK during something like a mid 10.2x. So having game data is that says he went about .97 is interesting, if a bit anecdotal, for the eternal "how much do pads slow you down" debate.
