Have spent way too much mental energy on this (and am just curious to hear the Board's thoughts). We all know shoes are the most important part of a race. I'm technically on a NB-sponsored team but I don't think there are requirements to wear NB for TTs (see below).
Goal is sub-15, and should be achievable... 14:50 is probably an A+ race. My all-time PR is 14:54 but somehow I'm having a post-collegiate resurgence (and more realistically - I raced the 5K very infrequently in college).
The options I am considering:
1. New Balance FuelCell 5280. (A rare opportunity to use them; they have a carbon fiber plate ... BUT, we've seen great 5K performances in high-stack racers.)
2. New Balance FuelCell RC Elite. (New Balance's latest and greatest, definitely a good medium ... BUT, a little less exciting and will have plenty of chances in the future.)
3. Adidas Adios Pro (This is probably the fastest and bounciest shoe I've tested ... BUT, it's really, really bouncy and the high stack feels a little odd on a track.)
4. ASICS MetaRacer (The only IAAF-legal option, besides 5280, and just a darn cool-looking shoe ... BUT, the one I have the least confidence in.)
