Hey look at me. I’m so woke and prolific...I started a thread and have posted about 75% of the posts on it. I must be popular based upon my thread. Just like how I have 274 friends on FB...3 of which I actually know.

What? Lmao. I know people in their 20s and 30s who "don't do fb" or any other social media. Most people I know are on fb because you HAVE to be now days. Especially if you have a kid. Coaches used to call each parent. Now they've gotten lazy and just post something. Same with teachers. It's ridiculous.
Hell I know people who don't even have the internet lol and they seem pretty normal lol.
Perhaps they have actual friends in real life!
Using Facebook in 2020 is trashy. If you've 'posted' on FB in the past 4 years you're trashy.
No one under 25 is actively using Facebook. Teens definitely do not use Facebook, but are on Instagram.
BS...
Is the OP 13 years old or is there some other excuse for them being so disconnected from the steady stream of negativity surrounding that platform?
I've become accustomed to trolls on this forum, but this is one of the dumbest posts I've ever read on here. The problems with Facebook itself is beyond this forum and would be enough to drive away people of all ages. Also, we're supposed to be skeptical of what? And what behavior is that supposed to lead to when someone is stealing with a person who says they don't use it? Actually, I'm wondering if this post wasn't from some sort of Facebook or Google "bot."
Because they have a life and friends in real life?

That's what they say about Letsrun but here we are!
I’m 37. I left facebook because I got tired of learning things about friends and family and thus feeling like I knew them without having to actually interact. I stayed off Facebook because of the political misinformation and the vitriolic way people speak to each other— most of which they would never do in real life. I have a neighbor who is not in Facebook because he was a pro football player and doesn’t want attention. I have a brother who has never been on Facebook because he thinks it’s dumb. FYI the overwhelming majority of people with criminal records are not sex offenders.
Oh, please. There are multiple reasons why someone would choose not to be on Facebook, none of which are nefarious or dubious. The inane posts, the privacy issues, the waste of time. There are people across all age groups who have opted out.
Sounds to me like something is right.
I don't live in the US but I have never been interested in anything to do with Fakebook or similar because I don't have narcissistic personality disorder.

70 percent of the population is on Facebook, and when you figure in the older people 80 or 90 that don't bother with it, and the homeless people, or people who can't afford a phone, you have a small number left. There is a big chance, for example, someone who is like 49 years old and not on Facebook, that they could most likely be a sex offender, as they aren't permitted to be on Facebook or something is just wrong with them socially or mentally or they don't want to be found. Very few people in that age range just choose not to be on Facebook. Most likely there is a reason. So next time someone in that age range says they don't do Facebook, be skeptical of them. There all ways is the chance their normal and choose just not to, but that is a very small chance .
Hello to Mother Russia! I love the Russian people, but not the propaganda!
Okay, there is a chance you aren't in Russia, OP. You could work for Facebook, or the Trump campaign, or just be embarrassed that you still have Facebook but the girl who just turned you down also deleted her Facebook. But there is a high chance you have some ulterior motive. I mean, peer pressuring people that they should be on Facebook? The platform that is the right wing's and Russia's most powerful disinformation and fear-mongering tool? Not healthy folks.
Ask Jaron Lanier why you should delete your social media. Ever heard of a Skinner box? A dopamine hit? Behavioral manipulation feedback loop? Facebook's psychological experiments it runs without user consent?

Then you should keep it but use the app that blocks your feed.
My older brother is about 80-100 pounds overweight and spends hours each week on Facebook rather than improving his health. Earlier this year he had the symptoms, tested positive for Covid-19. and quarantined at his home. He is a 65-year old teacher and I fear his return to school might be an unwise decision.
I wish there were much more emphasis on improving general health to fend off this and all other illnesses. The fatties, the diabetic, the hyper-tense, etc, are dying prematurely and taking the economy with them.
My teenage kids (I’m from Western Europe) don’t use FB.
Snapchat, Messenger, Instagram.
FB is still widely used in the 30 to 60 age group.
I have fb but I don't use it. i am occasionally tagged by others. I have it just in case somebody wants to get in touch with me, which used to happen way more than it does now. very few active FBers anymore.
And I know several people who don't have an account. very normal people. it is a wasteful time suck.
my favorite people are the ones who are so overwhelmed with it that they have to turn off their account every couple months. They just can't control themselves to just have it as an occasional useful tool.
If you are old enough to have a full-time job and put your own food on the table and are still on Facebook ....there's something wrong with you. It's like being in Eagle Scouts at 34.
People devalue their own time waaaaay too easily by throwing it away on herd-mentality crap like that.
FB is fcking awful, so much negativity and politics. If people could just post pics of their kids and pets and dogs it would be tolerable, but no, it must be politics. If someone says they aren’t on FB, it could be because they just don’t want you to find their profile for whatever reason... they might not want co workers to find your profile because they’re afraid of getting fired or ostracized for politics and social views. Even if you don’t post about politics. If your co worker adds you on FB and posts a political post and you fail to “like” it, the person could construe you negatively. In short, FB is evil.
