Assume you have a guy in his early 20s who has been training consistently but not intensely for the past few years. He runs 5-6 days a week, does intervals or time trials once a week, and averages around 20-25 MPW. This type of training gets him to 2:10 / 4:30 for the 800 / 1500.
If quits his job, moves to altitude, trains under a good coach, and lives for the sole purpose of maximizing his running potential, what would his times be 4-5 years later? Could he realistically hope to achieve a 1:59 / 3:59, or would those times be too easy or hard for him?
