That’s good to know and thank you everyone for responding. I’ve ran in Saucony freedoms for daily training for a while and really like them, so I’m leaning toward the speed now. I’ve also heard that the Hyperion tempo midsole gets really firm in the cold, and where I live the cold season lasts a long time.
I actually tested on the first peg turbo 2 at my local store and loved the midsole feel, definitely the squishiest thing I’ve ever felt, but my foot is a little too wide for it I think.
I’ve run in the freedoms 1 and 2, Kinvara 6, 8 and 10, Fastwitch 7 and 8.
My current rotation is Clifton 7, Nike Peg Turbo 2, Freedom 2, and very recently Endorphin Speed.
The Speed is similar to the Turbo in that the shoe feels great at a quicker pace. It’s not bad at a lower pace it just livens up when going faster. Of course pace is all relative. The Speed is slightly heavier than the Turbo by 10 grams in my size but feels lighter, the Turbo feels bouncier and more cushioned but the Speed feels more stable and faster. The Turbo is like a trampoline and the Speed like a springy diving board.
Where I live I can’t get that Turbo 2. If I could get a hold of the Turbo for less than a $100 like the other commenters above have I’d stock up on them. That being said I think you will enjoy the Speed - it is like a Freedom but at lower speeds doesn’t have the same cushioning but at a quicker pace the energy return kicks in and feels just as cushioned but with way more bounce.
