Its a trainer so tiggers don't get injured bouncing around in their vaporflies all the time. Boing! Boing! Looks like it will serve that purpose.
These are 90% of the same shoe with a nylon vs carbon plate. And a little bit of react foam to annoy people.
It would cause the same injuries if there are.
SJD dislikes them:
Road trail run has had a review for a while. Plus I like how the testers compare it with similar shoes.
https://www.roadtrailrun.com/2020/07/nike-air-zoom-tempo-next-flyknit-review.html
I used the Saucony Endorphin Speed for a while which has similar principle and they're pretty awesome in terms of relative value for money
Not quite as much speed but the Nylon plate durability was much better than the Carbon version and price was lot less as well
Nike really fucked the pooch here. This should be a zoomfly replacement only; the turbo line was a home run - so many people loved them and the popularity was growing. Those who know, know. It was probably the single best shoe ever made.
And they killed it off after 2 years (1 year since it reached peak). That's a shoe that should have been made for generations. Plus it cost a shitload so it was probably a good money maker for them.
Trying too hard.

If he purchased them off of an American website as he claims, those are 100% fakes.
Yeah, I feel this really does replace the Zoomfly: a heavier, more durable version of their racing shoe. I'd love to try a Pegasus 37 with the Turbo's mixed insole.
EddBud also not so positive, again notice the weight:
I've had the black/white pair for almost a month. I purchased them from Hong Kong. I love the Next%, but I'm not yet sure If I like the Tempo. First, there is zero midsole on this shoe. You either need to run 100% forefoot, or 100% heel (not recommended). I'm a natural forefoot striker, but you need to run high and keep that forefoot landing on the air pod. The shoe is a bit heavier than I expected.
Speaking of the air pods, they are very very firm. I'm 5'11" 150 and I can barely feel the pod flex when I'm running. Any speed less than say 6:30 pace an you probably won't flex it. Maybe it will break in a bit, but right now the pod is very high pressure.
The upper is weird -- you can lock down OK, but I would prefer more options for lacing. The upper is breathable though, so your feet should not get hot in them.
Those criticisms noted, you can run fast in this shoe, and it does provide considerable bounce. Once you get in the sweet spot you just want to keep running faster. After four hard runs the shoe has almost no wear on the bottom, which is good. I think the shoes will last 350 miles or more.
Anyway, that's my take so far. I'm running in them tomorrow morning and looking forward to it. I generally train in Hoka CarbonX and Rincon 65-70 mpw.
Another not so positive review seems quite firm:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQLdeKsnIxg
Interesting to hear the reviewer stating it seems more like a Zoomfly 3 replacement.
From the YouTube reviews, this shoe seems to be a complete letdown. The FOD Runner seems to hate it:
U have 50 miles on these...got them from some dude on ebay (id shoes) - cant see how you could fake these easily and they pass all the typical smell tests (glued insole, coloring, tags, foam thickness, plate, etc...).
I like them, dont love them and feel they could have done better here. For gods sake just make the turbo 2 with the new upper, softer pods and a touch firmer.
Pros
- Durable: loving they put the thick rubber on the heel too, unlike alphafly. I barely see much after 50 miles and I heel strike hard
- Pods: they are a little firm, but you stop noticing after a few miles. I like the feel
- Stable: even with high stack, still pretty stable
Cons
- Narrow: Narrowest Nike yet, i mean WTF. I love nike because they fit my feet (hate the company), but these are narrow, and feel narrow. Zoom flyknits were narrow but didnt feel it, these if you tie laces tight they hurt. Luckily the sock fit is TIGHT, so laces are almost not needed and I just barely tie them
- Firm Heel: Could be a little softer IMO, but forefoot strikers will care less here. If you have fuel cell TC's or old school zoom fly flyknits those both are much softer than these
- Stiff: These feel stiffer than the alphaflys...not sure why??? but the plate feels more pronounced and the pods are firmer for sure
Good for medium to slow paces, though they tend to be a little sloppy super fast (5-6min miles). Good trainer
Not in love, not gonna by another pair. Holding out hope for Adios Pro as Adidas fit my feet too.
I am going to go through these reviews, but will buy a pair regardless. I need to try them out to determine whether they are good or not. Given Nike's track record with fast shoes I think they deserve a purchase and some good mileage with long fast runs and marathon type WOs; no matter what reviewers say.
I think anyone reviewing these shoes should let people know what type of paces they are running with these shoes. I think depending on fitness and pace these shoes may be great for some and not so much for others. So I am going to take these reviews with a grain of salt. I think shoes like these will be most beneficial to faster runners.
FodRunner followup, again slamming the shoe. This shoe might be the letdown of the year:
This seems like a dud year overall for Nike.
I disliked my Pegasus 37's. Went back and bought a few pairs of Pegasus 36's to hold me over until I find something new.
I was a big fan of the Zoom Fly 1 for racing, the zoom fly 3 is much heavier, i refuse to try it.
I finally pulled the trigger on the Pegasus Turbo 2, now that the prices are semi-reasonable. Too bad it looks like they are retiring this shoe. Or even worse, a third version would be based on the 37's that i disliked. I may just buy out all Turbo 2 stock i can find.

I ordered mine a little while back out of Asia. I'm overall just not crazy about the air pods. I don't like air in the other Nikes either (Pegasus, Vomero, etc). I got the Alphflys after and am not crazy about the air pods there either. I'd rather just have all ZoomX, because it is smoother, less clunky, and doesn't irritate the bottom of your feet, but the pods also require a lot more force to get the benefit out of. I'm a smaller 5'7" ~125lb runner and the air pods really just get in the way until starting to pick up the pace a bit. They do perform well once you start cruising at a comfortably fast like 6:30 pace or so, but I think the Tempo should be a bit more versatile at easier paces and the air pods and thick rubber just do not allow for that. The Alphafly suffers less from this because it is the racer, but the Tempo would be better without air pods so it can transition between slower and faster paces better. I do still prefer the Next% to the Alphafly though.
I'd still lean towards the Fuelcell TC or Endorphin Speed probably. The Speed is faster and the TC is more forgiving. The Speed is the best deal for sure. If the Tempo really is $200, you could get the TC for the same price, the Speed for $40 less, the Endorphin Pro for the same price, Fuelcell RC for $25 more, etc.
The Tempo does perform well at long and fast runs while offering a ton of protection.
I'm selling my black/white pair size 10. Just don't like them. If the Alphafly forefoot feels anything like this, I don't want it.
I had a feeling that the Alphafly wasn't going to do it for me based on the airpods. I tried the tempo and that was further compounded.
I don't think it is as much of an issue in the Alphafly when you are always using it to go faster, but the airpods are bad when not going fast. I am glad they are still making the Next% and shoes like RC Elites, Endorphin Pros, Hyperion Elite, etc are put there now.
Anyways, I think we might see a lot more people say the Alphaflys are not for them and the Next%s work better for them. I think this will especially be the case for smaller runners.
