Lately, most of my runs are on the treadmill. I typically keep the majority of the running at 5% Gradient, although I will adjust from time-to-time (for warmups/cooldown, etc.).
In order to get an idea what is the 'speed equivalent' on a flat (i.e., 0% Gradient), when running on incline, I refer to the Treadmill Calculator found here:
https://42.195km.net/e/treadsim/
My question is how are you guys inputting this type of info into your Garmin (if one is interested in having the Garmin keep track of running metrics in order for it to update its VO2max prediction)? When completing a 'treadmill workout', the Garmin will ask whether I wish to 'calibrate' the device. As an example, here is one suggestion: if I were to run an hour at 5% incline, at 7mph, I will in reality covered 7 miles with incline elevation, which is equivalent to covering 8.6 miles on a flat, per the calculator. So I could tell the Garmin I covered 8.6 miles (rather than 7 miles) in this example.
What do you all think about that? Any other ideas/suggestions?
