When I run 6 or 7 miles, I am barely tired and I feel like I can basically do anything else the rest of day as expected. But, when I do a longer run (say, at least 10 miles), I am basically always pretty tired for the rest of the day and it can be hard to get motivated to do much else without a nap at the very least. If I can fall asleep, that is!
If I do 12 or 13+, then often tiredness usually seeps into the next day as well. I've been like this for years, but at some point having to trade basically most of my Sunday, because I'm so tired, gets old. Particularly as an adult who was racing sparingly pre covid as it is.
Is there any way around this? I was thinking before that maybe I wasn't eating enough, but recently have been counting my calories and making enough food so that I'm too full to finish. And yep, I'm still tired.
I don't know if most other people are like this or if I'm doing something wrong. Running 45-55mpw most weeks pretty consistently, so it's not an issue of "getting used to long runs" or something like that.
