I believe there is enough evidence showing that the most efficient running form is landing mid/fore-foot. I did not intend to discuss this in this thread, but have to set the stage for discussing shoe design.
Why are shoes typically designed with a drop, meaning a higher stack height in the heel compared to the forefoot. My experience is that for a person landing on mid or fore-foot, the extra heel is only making it a little bit harder to land without touching the ground with the heel first, or it even influences the running form towards more heel landing. For a heel-lander, it perhaps does not matter or even makes it easier to "roll" over to the forefoot.
A follow-up question could be that maybe shoes are designed for the heel-landers and not the mid/forefoot landers ?
