The OP's original question was simply why he/she care should about other people getting him/her sick or he/she getting other people sick.
It's a straightforward, philosophical question.
All these arguments about covid measures completely miss the point of the OP's question.
He/she must be convinced to care before any of those other things become relevant.
So far, the "self interest" argument appears to appeal most.
A question for the OP:
You ask why "should" you care. Let's assume there is no convincing reason, and that even if the argument from self interest holds some sway, you find that, for you, the self-interest benefits of not caring outweigh the self-interest benefits of caring.
Would you prefer to live in a society of more people who care (not that they "should," but they choose to anyway), or in a society of more people who do not care?
