I read all kinds of rumors prior to release that these shoes have a carbon fiber plate. However, the descriptions on Nike.com and Runningwarehouse.com both just say "a plate" and never mention carbon anywhere. Is there any confirmation that this is a carbon plated spike? I would assume they'd advertise as such if it were.
You're right. It's not in any description anywhere. Both the track and xc versions of the victory mention carbon fiber.

Yeah, i noticed that for other models, so that probably means it isn't carbon fiber. So, Cheptegei ran in a shoe for which the only arguably specual attribute was a foam that is used by nearly all major brands (Nike, Asics, Mizuno, Reebok, Saucony, Adidas, New Balance, Hoka, Brooks, etc). Presuming it's a plastic plate, does that even count as special?
Also just adding to this, havent the pros had these spikes since early 2019? I remember seeing them at a couple high level meets and at Doha.

The new spike which has the air pods is the "Nike Air Zoom Victory". It also has the carbon fiber plate.
A carbon fiber plate or a bouncy air thing or any other bouncy thing can't make you run faster because that's not how running works. The mechanics isn't about bouncing off the sole material.
The best sort of running shoe possible is one with a stiff sole that doesn't give way or bend at all.
There's nothing all that special about a carbon fiber plate - Nike's top of the line XC spikes have them too.
I just asked Nike. They confirmed it isn't carbon fiber. This is what they told me via their online chat help:

They confirmed that there is no carbon fiber plate in the shoe, just a pebax plate.
The Cheptegei's of this world don't necessarily have the same off the shelf shoes as you hobby joggers. They want you to believe you're buying the same thing, if the shoes of the Cheptegei's of this world have something in them that the off the shelf ones don't they're not going to tell you, .

No, they're not breaking IAAF rules, but they're not necessarily the same shoes that you buy off the shelf. Not sure what's so hard to understand about that.
I'm quite sure they were some 'elite' (aka 'prototype') because they had a blue foot plate rather than black. And yes with a carbon fiber plate for sure! He wasn't wearing the crappier Dragonfly spikes, he was wearing the non-crappier Dragonfly spikes, which are better than the Air Zoom Victory.

If you look on the Nike site the regular Dragonfly have that iridescent blue spike plate.
