12:35!!!!!
CHEPTEGEI
Did he win (like Brazier did)- because in sports, you play to win the game!!!
Magisterial. I now think Bekele gets that Marathon World Record over Kipchoge. Motivation is going to be through the roof now.
Cheptegei made it look easy. Well-paced and then he took off.

No he broke the wr by 2 seconds and got 6th
Utter bullshit...... what's the point anymore. 22 second Pb, he has broken the unbreakable Bekele record and just nonchalantly stopped his watch at the end.
Give me a break
That was phenomenal! Brilliant. A record I didn't think would go down. Taking down a Bekele record is something else. and by 2s!
Great run but the brand new mondo track and carbon plated Nike spikes for me anyway takes away from the greatness of the record!
Watched it live and took the race from the start and just reeled of consistent 60 second laps.
Records are made to be broken - goodbye King Kenny!

Nah, that's just the nail in the coffin. Bekele can retire now, as he will never get the 5000m, 10000m and marathon WRs at the same time.
not for me ! wrote:

A new King has just emerged, and the only thing you people are babbling about is the Shoes? People run the race, not the shoes, damn it.
Incredible performance by Joshua Cheptegei at the Monaco Diamond League
Judging by how he looked at the last lap, I think he can still go much faster than that
The track is new but not Mondo

You realized, of course, he ran a road 5k in 12:51 on a semi-hilly course all by himself, right?
I've been saying that world record is unbreakable since it was set. I thought no way could a modern runner run that fast with decent doping testing. A few months of covid-19 proved me wrong. A well trained microdoser can have an opportunity in times like this, to take enough drugs and break unbreakable world records. 3:25 is next.
Yeah the shoes and track take away the record.
Everyone should run clean, barefoot, on cinder track like Bekele did...
Where were you able to find coverage? Could you insert s link? I just saw the result on Wikipedia, incredible!!

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed!
Agreed. He must be on Jakob's Norwegian Nectar!

We will see more of it.
