I predict that Bekele will not feature in the finish of the race, likely dropping out around 30km.

That read does not sound like it bodes well for Bekele.. I think his Berlin was successful due to his time spent in Amsterdam and the group he actually trained with. This time he didn't want to go and is on his own again..too bad
Any chance Rupp shows up?
They're likely the two greatest stars in the running world, don't you guys think the race organizers would be in contact with then the whole time?
I think they were at all times aware of how likely it was for the race to go on or not. And probably kept their training based on what the race organizers were telling then.

Agreed.
Just remember the article was written by a notorious Kipchoge fanboy. Read with caution.

sure but likely even organizers at times didn't know what was going to happen or what would even be allowed

You question whether Or not Kipchoge is in shape? That’s like questioning whether or not Batman and Robin are gay lovers.
Robin was Batman’s adoptive kid, but with all these other rich people beings pedos...
Where did you see he was training in Amsterdam?
It would be interesting to plot their respective Berlin mile splits . We could get a glimpse of their marathon styles in a ghost race.
I hope so, I'd like to see him in this race even though he's got no chance against Bekele or Kipchoge.

Well couldn't you say that about anyone who has covered marathon running the last 4+ years. Kipchoge has been unbeatable.
My take from the article was it sounds like neither one of them might be in top form.

Was thoroughly reported last year before Berlin he was in Amsterdam with proper dieticians, physio’s, etc to help him get back on track. This article posted states Jos asked Bekele to go again but refused due to a fear in COVID.
He also joined a real training group last year that included Tadesse and Desisa
Bekele is in shape. He soloed a 12:46 5k on the track last week

I would love it if they were both totally out of shape. Get some Hoka's on them, 15 gels, maybe even a hydration vest or fanny pack with smart phone in. And let them duel it out for maybe a sub 3 marathon. Both would obviously also need the obligatory stop at mile 21 to stretch out cramp. I'd watch that.

Anyone who's followed marathoning should be a fan of Kipchoge, that's for sure.
But Gault goes a little farther, both in his praise of Kipchoge and his dismissal of Bekele, as he often does in the podcast. Hey, we all have favorites.

lol
VLM Organisers host a road mile event there every year (bit shy of a lap) - 3/4 corners have smooth turns and good paving but it is certainly not flat and doing 20+ laps is going to get rough. At the top of the park theres a sudden drop of a couple meters and then before you take the next (only sharp) corner to go back the opposite way, theres a corresponding incline. No one has ever run under 4:01 on that course and I wouldnt want to deal with that almost every mile.
