That is exactly what the NJCAA Region 3 has proposed doing. They have split the region into east & west with 4-6 teams in each sub division. Four (4) of them will hold a home meet. Then the Conference Championships with the same teams and the Regional Championships with the entire region. No teams will have to travel more than 75 miles for the sub division. Initially the meets will be run using the following format:
Team A runs
1st man- 1:00 later they run 2nd man. This continues until they have all run. Then team B, C & D.
Then the same process with the ladles.
Yes, it's not perfect, but at least theres a start to the season. If after a meet or two (2) the risk goes down, perhaps move to the "normal" format. By end of October were betting that all will be fine to hold the entire region followed by the NJCAA Nationals the first weekend in November.
