I never had a problem with insoles before, so I never really thought about them before.
Today, I went out for a morning workout to avoid the summer daytime and evening heat. The temperature was 75F and the dew point was 74F, so it was a wet one out there. I got through my workout with no problem, but everything I was wearing was dripping wet. During my cool down jog back home the front of my insoles started to move backward until the front half of the insoles were bunched up under the middle of my foot. I stopped, took my shoes off, fixed the insoles, and continued. About a quarter mile jog down the road... same problem. I stopped, fixed them again, and then I just walked. After about a quarter mile of walking, the same thing happened. Now the insoles are very creased and folded, which I think will allow them to move and bunch up even more easily in the future. Maybe if these shoe never get wet while I'm running I won't have to worry, but that can't be promised since it's going to be humid far another couple months.
I think that I have two options to get these shoes through the second half of their lifetime:
A. Buy new insoles: It's a complete fix, but all of the insoles that I see available are expensive and specialized. All I need is the original thin insole that was in there.
B. Shoe Goo the insoles in place: Costs me nothing, but I'm worried that I'll end up with Shoe Goo lumps that I can feel under my foot or that the insoles will still move and rip apart.
(Zante Pursuits in case you are wondering)
But why doesn't the shoe company just incorporate the insole as part of the shoe that can't move or separate?
