I'm going to lock that thread to new posts. Any new Castille dicussions should be done here.
Sad story really.
Was he living in Eugene?

Most unsurprising news in the sport of the decade. So many red flags on that guy yet cycled his special sauce to not get popped. Exposes top level masters running and drug testing to be a joke, how much money and titles did he scam before finally getting caught?
The true crime here is he got caught.
Taking a common anabolic steroid that is super easy to detect and only testing at nationals? And you still got caught?!?!?
Come on man a few hours of googling could have prevented that.
The most unsurprising news of 2020 so far. Something needs to change to stop obvious cases earlier. Just off the top of my head... Maybe cash prize structure should change or be eliminated? Maybe just spend that cash on testing or give it to clubs for travel instead?...
Runners have been taking deca for years in the USA. I ran against some Kenyans in Tulsa OK back in 2005 or so and one of them came up to me after the race asking me to help him find and purchase some "deca" and I had no clue what it was until I told my brother the story.
For someone with the desire to research or read medical reviews, what benefits would the drug he used give a distance runner?

More lean muscle and improved recovery.
I'm not surprised, but this doesn't shatter my confidence that there are some great runners alive now that are not doping.
However, It would be a big shock if they retested an old Ed Whitlock blood sample and found traces of illegal synthetic tree bark formulated by the late Euell Gibbons.

Your confidence is misplaced.
A steroid that stimulates the production of Testosterone, Estradiol, HGH, etc. Which can alter all of your hormones/hemoglobin to optimal all while putting in massive training multiplying both effects. In today's global marketplace you can get this, Meldonium and you don't need an appointment to those "age centers"
One could say accepting the Ban for one event (19'masters 10k)is a good deal for years of US titles, age group, local/national circuit...he's playing the game. JG being a running geek could account for all those races and pose the winnings to KC.
In pro/elite circles you always hear he/she got popped for positive at event x But then taking substance x for 3-4 years at 25+ races with 25 winnings$. So big picture your trading 1 fine for 24 wins.
Finally.
Also, more good news after the Stevens ban.
