Like somebody else who posted on here, I’m training for a 400 since there’s no races soon. I ran 52.9 when training for 800/mile so it got me wondering if I could break 50 if I actually trained only for 400. But I have some questions. First, is it stupid to think I can break 50? idk by what margin of time it’s feasible to improve a 400m PR. Is 6 weeks a long enough “season” to train for 400 and see results that are near my genetic potential? I’ve taken a month break of no running since the 800m training block. Call me a distance snob but compared with the intricacies of distance training, sprint training seems like stupidly simple, all I plan on doing is lifting every three days and doing fast strides 2 of 3 days, is this enough to get fast, or do I need a complicated training scheme?
