Bekele f***s Wariner up over 1000m but it is interesting to consider exactly what distance would produce a good matchup between them. Wariner wins at 600m and Bekele at 800m, so I think 650m or 700m would be about right.

Close one!
Bekele by a long way
A better race would have been MJ vs. Wilson K. around 96-97 over 600m.
This one is too stupid to even think about.
If they raced tomorrow, I reackon Bekele would win by at least 10 seconds
What about an 800?
it wouldnt even be close bekele would KILL him a closer match up would be bekele and wariner but i would still have to give it to bekele.
Interesting opinion, ure dumb.
Assuming both are injury free and in peak shape, there has to be some discrete cross over point at which Bekele's endurance traits and lesser speed traits are exactly balanced against Wariner's speed traits and lesser endurance traits.
I'm sure the army letsrun.com analysts can crunch the numbers and come up with the exact metre and centimetre at which this cross over point will occur.
Is that distance 450.31 metres or is it closer to 637.25 metres or some other number altogether? I'm not sure but I trust you guys will come up with the proof and post it here for a critical peer review.
Wariner would be lucky to keep up with Bekele for the first 1k of a 5k.
Being that Bekele has 97% slow twitch, and Wariner has 93% fast twitch, my calculations show that they would be evenly matched at 775.43 meters. Add approx. 5.24 meters for every mph of wind, since Wariner has a cross-sectional area of about 0.78 times that of Bekele, unless they are running at altitude, for which we need an additional correction of -1.23 meters/mph/k of altitude, because of decreased wind resistance.

It appears your overall post is of a joking nature, but there is no way Bekele is 97% slow twitch. He has a 400m PR of around 48 seconds (maybe even faster). 97% is truly the highest end of slow people. Bekele is not slow in a sprint. He wouldn't, in absolute terms, be far off Wariner's pace in a 400 (give Wariner 44 and Bekele 47-high to 48-low). Make the event slightly more aerobic (700-800) and Bekele wins.
oh freakin' hands down bekele.

No, not close.
A 600-meter race might be close, though.

You must be joking, a six hundred meter race would not be close at all, Wariner would win by 50 meters, maybe more.
On the other hand, Bekele would win the 1000m race easily.
I'm also waiting for the detailed analysis telling me the exact point where the closest race would be
I say 825 meters is where it gets interesting.
Well this isnt hard since bekele would win 1000m race, and wariner 600m, the best distance for them to fairly race is 1200m steeplechase.
I DONT WANT TO KNOW YOUR NAME I JUST WANT BANG BANG BANG!
shfifty five.
wariner couldnt even beat bekele by 50m in a 400m. wariner would beat bekele in a 600m, but bekele would easily get him by 2-3 in a 1k. 800m however, would be a good match.

you are right, Wariner's lead would grow from 400 to 600. His lead would be about 35 at 400m and 50 at 600m... then the comeback would start.
Bekele vs Wariner over 400m would be a better race. If you took away the starting blocks to rempve the small explosive element of the 400m start then I would say that Bekele would take it by about 3 or 4m.
