I’ve been injured for a couple weeks now and took up cycling to try to maintain fitness. And I’m f***ing sick of cycling.
You have to ride ~4 hours to get the same workout as a 1 hour long run. You don’t get that nice exhausted/satisfied feeling after a long ride like you do after a long run. Instead, you feel like you just wasted 4 hours of your life. You also feel like you just narrowly avoided death for 4 hours because people don’t know how to drive (e.g. waving you on when you have a stop sign and they don’t, or making a sudden right turn without a blinker). Not nearly as much of a problem when you’re running.
So I was wondering on my ride today about the question in the title. Who in their right mind would choose cycling over running? It has to only be people who can’t run because they are prone to injury. Jesus Christ. I’d off myself if I got an MRI and the doctor told me I could never run again and I could only cycle.
