Dude I don't know. I know they are running an 800 TT and 1500 TT at Jesuit HS here in Portland. I have no idea who is pacing them, I know it's going to be an effort TT for these guys though.

I do find it hilarious that either people don't believe me or people don't care this is going down. Probably the most polarizing dude in Engels running and maybe the best American distance running talent ever are going for it tonight and it's crickets on these boards of "running fans".

Really odd considering the flak Pete took over the whole Salazar thing. I also think all the anger from the BTC thread was probably just from one person that kept changing IP addresses and screen names. Seemed that way anyway.

Engels 1:44, Brazier 3:27 side-by-side with Rupp.

All 3 very relaxed, then 400 jog, 20 min tempo

Wouldn’t surprise me. On here, every team or coach or agent or sponsor has one or two unreasonably psychotic haters.

I've received a text saying that Brazier ran 3:35.85 and looked like he was jogging. This source is basically never wrong on anything but I don't have confirmation from a 2nd source. Can anyone else confirm?

If that's true then hand him the virtual 2020 gold medal now

It's not hilarious at all. The reason is not that the fans don't care, it's that the fans don't know.

The sport does not care about marketing or publicising itself at all.

This is not just a covid-19 issue about performing behind closed doors. Even in normal times meetings are not advertised, not publicised, often not televised even with an online stream, the results are difficult to get hold of.

It's a joke.

This makes sense. This makes a very nice interval workout for Rupp and Brazier, following up a 1:44 800 with a 1:13 600. But Engels should finish it out with them instead of stopping at 800 unless he's been having injury issues.

This post sums up my sentiments on the sport. Today’s execs and coaches have seem to not notice how far the sport has fallen, at least in the United States, in the past several decades. Forty years ago, Sebastian Coe graced the cover of Sports Illustrated after he won the Olympic 1500m. In 2016, an American in Matt Centrowitz wins that title, and the mainstream sports reporting community couldn’t care less.

Today’s coaches and execs are burying the sport even further with clandestine time trials like these “meets” we keep hearing about.
