Looking forward to all the 'Jakob has no basic speed' trolls here going home devastated next week.

Coevett expects 1:42
Everyone else expects 1:45 -

Pathetic even by your standards. Talk about moving the goalposts. Nearly everybody here still claims Jakob"s 1;49 he ran on tired legs at 16 was close to his lifetime max. Now you're changing it to anything less than 1:42 is slow. -

Nobody thinks that. Everyone expects a 3:30 guy to run 1:45 it's just about the minimum required. -
They keep running fringe events to avoid showing that Jakob has not really progressed.
5k road

800m
Jakob doing everything to avoid running a 1500m or a 5000m. -

The 3 runners who crushed him in Doha 1500 final last year:
Cheruiyot 3:28.41 - 1:43.11
Makhloufi 3:28.75 - 1:42.61
Lewandowski 3:31.46 - 1:43.72
Ingebrigtsen 3:30.16 - 1:49.4
Do people here really think he got the speed to run 1:43? All of these runners crush him speed-wise. This race will show how slow-twitch he is, already looking forward to the excuses when he fails to even run sub 1:45, which runners like Centro and even Engels have done. PR means nothing when his PR is only 1:49 (as 3:30 guy!), but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even break 1:46. -

Nowhere near “nearly everybody” claims that. Once again, you are a liar. Your word is mud. -
I think it shall be 1,46,xx; but 13,,15 also seems possible. The silly claim of running off events makes no sense, and strikes me as a very odd aspect to be critical with.

Maybe he just doesn't want to end up like El Guerrouj who graduated with a 1:47 PR? Runners want to build and show a strong "range" of performances over a variety of distances.
El Guerrouj could have run MUCH faster, he was ST like Ingebrigtsen (more 1500/3k/5k than 800/1500), so whatever Ingebrigtsen can run while in 3:30 shape El Guerrouj would have run ~2.0 sec faster (their 1500 PR diff is 4.0 sec).
Also works the other way round, If you think El Guerrouj could have run 1:43.50, then Ingebrigtsen should be able to run 1:45.5, or he must be considered even more ST and probably should even move to a new main event. -
Jakob won't get under 1.46

1:44 high or 1:45. Nothing shocking.

Where exactly in the world right now is there a 1500m race that's going to go under 3:30 or a 5k under 13:00? That's what it would take for him to show improvement. So why waste time on running some time trial that's not going to go that fast. May as well run some events you might not otherwise do.
Idiot. -
Filip’s 1000m NR converts to 1:43-high. I’d say all the Brigtsens are gonna be stronger at 1K than 800m, so I’d put the over/under at 1:44.5.
Also, what are the odds Jakob even wins this one? Filip is still the faster bro from 1999m and under. -
This might be a hot take but I think that Jakob would win 1999m against Filip. Not gonna make any other bets though.
-
Even for 1500 with Jakob winning above and Filip below.

I think Filip could have made a very good 800m runner, if Gert didn't insist on them all being 15/5k guys. -

Might as well tell that to Salazar who tried to move Mary Cain up to the 5k. Coaching super-talented runners isn't that hard, but coaches always find ways to screw it up.
You can think about Tinman's training system whatever you want, but at least he puts his runners into the exact best events for them and doesn't randomly move runners up or down to like the 10k just because it's at "CV pace".. Reed Fischer - HM and marathon, Brogan Austin - marathon, Drew Hunter - 3k/5k, etc... no burning out of 800m runners or putting them in the wrong events in TME at least. -

If 2:16.46 converts to 1:43 high then what the hell does 2:11.96 convert to? Or Wohlhuter's 2:13.9 from 1974? -

That s the point.
He is trying to fake improvements per running events he never run so he can claim PERSONAL RECORD and get talked.
