My old shoe fit perfectly; they are 1/2 larger than how my feet measure on the shoe store Bannock Device. . Will a 1/2 size make it so it will not be enjoyable while running?

yeah its gonna suck
Sounds about right or short. The correct size for me in different running shoes vary from is 0.75 or 1.75 larger than my Brannock measurement. That's with wide feet.
brannock device is just a baseline.
if I found a good deal on one of my favorite shoes but it was a half size off, I'd buy it anyway. better too big than too small.
as for the brannock measurement...it's off a lot because you sometimes wear socks or go barefoot during the measurement. it's also a flat hard surface and your feet may flex differently inside a shoe than they do on the device. the brannock device usually will show the minimum size...and you should definitely not just choose the size that matches the end of your foot.
If it's been three or four years, you're probably fine.
I've gone from 10.5 in college to 12 in a lot of shoes. And no, my old shoes do not fit me any longer, it's not any newfangled wizardry.
Just throw in a 2nd pair of insoles and they'll fit fine.
