I'm not a super experienced runner, but I'm trying to use the quarantine to get more into it and get faster. I did a 5k time trial today and ran it in 22 minutes. Took me 23 mins and 40s a few months ago so I guess that's progress (though modest). I'm having a look at the run on Strava and it's not quite making sense to me -- wondering if anyone can help me interpret. There are 4 tabs...
#1 = "race analysis" shows my pace per km: 4:15, 4:09, 4:22, 4:36, 4:33 -- okay I understand this one...I got a bit tired and slowed down for the second half so the pacing was a bit uneven
#2 = "pace distribution" is based on your 5k race time (so I put in 22 mins) and it says I was mostly in Z4 (threshold) and Z5 (VO2 max) with about 2 mins in each of Z2 (tempo) and Z6 (anaerobic) -- this seems reasonable for a race?
#3 = "relative effort" -- I don't get it at all so I'm just gonna ignore that one
#4 = "heart rate" says I spent 80% of the time in Z2 (moderate) and 20% in Z3 (tempo)
So I guess my overall question is...doesn't #4 seem bad? Like shouldn't my heart rate be more in the tempo/threshold zone if my pace is in that zone? Also open to any other interpretations or tips based on this result.
