Does anyone else have this image of the ideal of athleticism? Of being like a human horse? Like Alberto Juantorena, but striving towards that type of athleticism for people who are no way in hell ever going to be Alberto Juantorena.
I don't want to be your typical distance runner. I want to be as powerful as possible, as graceful as possible, and still have great endurance and speed (as my genes allow).
What would be your idea of a training mix to be like this? I am thinking a decent amount of mileage and 800/miler training, but lots of training for power, and Olympic lifting (lots more than your typical collegiate runner). Plenty of plyometrics. Maybe deadlift 2.5x+ bodyweight. I'm 6'0", so would probably want to be around 170-175 lbs for a mix of running ability and strength.
Is this stupid?
