am workouts were generally done at 3am. 2nd workout at 8 or 9. I thought I was heat struck after the 7 miler. Worried me a bit. Open week nearing the end of the summer race phase.
I made the mistake of looking where I was mileage wise last year at this time. Oh boy. BUT, there was that six weeks or so off after my 3rd knee surgery on February 23rd.
One interesting thing. I found that my joints felt better in the days after a race.
So, I decided to back off the steady pounding and throw in some race paced and faster workouts. I’m in that phase anyway! Sure enough. I can walk when I first get up in the morning now.
2 races next week and the summer phase will be over. Back to the mileage base phase getting ready for the big Turkey Trot. Hopefully anyway. At my age you never know.
