Trump is making Putin dance with joy through the halls of the Kremlin.
imagine having a US president trying to destroy NATO, Ukraine, Harvard and the US economy.
“Goldman Sachs also expecting zero economic growth for 2025. Zero. We were printing +3% real GDP at the end of 2024.”
Depressing Thought of the Day: Best case is probably America waking up a tiny bit and hurting the Republicans substantively in 2026. But even if we get that, we know this: Americans are willing to vote for a Trump. And not 2016 Trump, but "We know EVERYTHING we need to know about him 2024 Trump." And my guess is that no matter how bad it gets, if and when it gets a bit better, they'll vote for a Trump again.
Which would, normally, bring one to a discussion of 2028. But from what we've seen in 3 months, it seems virtually impossible to even GUESS what the f*** state this country will be in by then, much less wonder about political party specifics.
The only possible comeback to this is that Trump is somehow unique. We can hope. But gross people have been taking LOTS of notes from him for a long time now. And nothing changes the fact that 2028 is really, really far away.
I'd just say that it doesn't matter what trump does or doesn't do. The US voting population doesn't have the capacity to wade through facts and whatnot to make a fair evaluation of the candidates. Leave that to Canada and Europe, for now.
As for the USA:
The US voting population will simply swing back and forth from one party to the other. The campaign will start 18 months before the election, but that's just for the nomination. The general election result is baked in...the Republican will lose and the Democrat will win.
The only thing American voters can measure is their dislike of politicians in office and their boredom. They will vote the opposite they voted last time. Because they do not like politicians in office and they get bored of the same old same old.
No Republican has much of a chance in 2028.
Back and forth, back and forth.
"Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that’s no matter—tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther. . . . And one fine morning—- So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

Would you support Trump if he ran for a 3rd term?
Would I support trump? Are you kidding me? Do you know who I am?
Of course I would not. I wouldn't hire trump to walk my dog. No company would ever hire trump to do anything except be a boiler room penny stock salesman. he's a thief, a felon, a liar, an ignorant stupid mess. Who is probably the best salesman on the planet.
Or maybe door to door vacuum sales. Or time shares. he'd be good at moving timeshares onto the rubes.

More appropriate for today, and from the same era is Thorstein Veblen, Theory of the Leisure Class. Everyone is a winner, no one has to work, save, plenty of time to travel, hang out at coffee shops discussing the liberal Cause.

I just thought that since all your posts here showed how much you liked Trump, you’d want him to take a 3rd term ;)
Jesus was apolitical. His own disciples urged him to wade into the political waters of his time and place, but he refused to be their revolutionary tool.
and definitely ignore that woke 'turn the other cheek' and ultra-woke welcoming the stranger stuff. That has no place in modern Christianity.
A New Mexico man was linked to two arson attacks on a Tesla dealership and GOP building just before his arrest over the weekend, the Justice Department said.
note that the nazis put most of their worst prison camps in countries other than Germany, just like trump wants to do in El Salvador and probably elsewhere.
Then and now, this was to avoid checks on the power of the central government or from lawyers. 'not on German/American soil - our laws don't apply there' applies to both.
You absolute idiots.

Unfortunately, the bolded part above only applies to the (extremely?) low-information "swing voters." Tens of millions of people in the M*G* base DO know facts about Trump. They know much of what he says and much of what he does. Sure, they're shielded from SOME of it, and accurate interpretations of it, but they know him pretty well.
Of course, this doesn't change the conversation about swings and the relative chances of change in the future. For that, it IS all about that small "middle." But it is an awfully depressing reminder that the vast majority of the reason that we have a Trump is because 30-40% of voting Americans LIKE Trump. It's far worse than just Clueless Ken and Karen swing voters.

Doubling down on the Hitler nonsense?
Don't you realize yet that is part of what lost you the election?

Trump is basically asserting that he has the power to arrest and deport anyone -- even a U.S. citizen -- and immediately send them to a foreign prison where the U.S. court system can never touch them again. That is the power of a dictator.

are you incapable of addressing the facts of the case?

If true, what are you going to do about it?
I mean, you lefties hate guns, and think that a well regulated militia is under the control of the government.
